Visitors can enjoy excellent snorkelling experiences in Bentota’s southwest region between November and April because this area hosts colourful coral reefs, shipwrecks and several underwater species. Diving conditions at Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, and Mirissa remain optimal at the same time during the year yet Trincomalee, Batticaloa provides decent diving within the May to September period. Visitors may explore popular dive spots which consist of Pigeon Island reef together with deep-sea whale sharks at Mirissa.
